Due to the Movement Control Order, the government has announced the following Wage Subsidy Programme:
Wage subsidy conditions:
- The wage subsidy is payable for 3 months for each local employee earning monthly wages of RM 4,000 or less.
- Employer must be registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) or local authorities, and operational, before 1 January 2020.
- Companies must be registered with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) or Employment Insurance System (EIS) before 1 April 2020.
- Employers must retain their staff for at least 6 months (3 months during and 3 months after the subsidy).
Closing date for application is 15 September 2020. The wage subsidy payment shall be credited to the employer’s account within 7-14 days upon approval of the application. For more information, you may refer to the FAQs and registration page.
