What is the difference between Zakat (deducted from payroll) and Zakat (paid direct by employee)?

Zakat (deducted from payroll)

The zakat is deducted from the employee's net pay and remitted by the employer to the Zakat Office. The employee should request their employer to make the deduction and inform them of the amount to be deducted. The zakat amount will also reduce any PCB payable.

PayrollPanda generates a zakat payment file for upload via Zakat Selangor portal (for companies located in Selangor) and via CIMB, Hong Leong and OCBC bank portals.

Zakat (paid by employee)

The zakat is paid directly by the employee to the Zakat Office. The employee should then inform the employer of the amount to be deducted from the PCB in any particular month by submitting form TP1 to their employer. The zakat amount will reduce any PCB payable but is not deducted from the employee's salary.
