How to enable and setup carry forward Leave?

Enabling carry forward leave allows an employee to use their unused leave in the new year.

1. Go to the "Settings" page and click on the "Leave Settings" tab.

2. Check the box that says, "Allow employees to carry forward their unused leave to next year?"

3. Set the number of days you want to allow employees to carry forward.

4. Set the number of months those days will be valid.

If you have been using PayrollPanda's leave feature since 2016, once you update your carry forward settings, the system will automatically calculate how many days an employee is entitled to carry forward. To make adjustments, you will need to change the value of the "Days Entitled" on the employee's "Employment Details" page.

Example #1

If you allow your employees to carry forward up to 10 days, and those days expire in 3 months, and your employee had 3 unused days as of 31 December 2016, and your employee is entitled to 12 days as of 1 January 2017, then your employee is entitled to a total of 15 days as of 1 January 2017 until 31 March 2017. On 1 April 2017, the 3 days carried forward from 2016 will have expired and your employee will only be entitled to the original 12 days of leave.

Example #2

If you allow your employees to carry forward up to 10 days, and those days expire in 3 months, and your employee had 12 unused days as of 31 December 2016, and your employee is entitled to 12 days as of 1 January 2017, then your employee is entitled to a total of 22 days as of 1 January 2017 until 31 March 2017. On 1 April 2017, the 10 days carried forward from 2016 will have expired and your employee will only be entitled to the original 12 days of leave.
